                  May – September 2009

Terminal Used: Lower Cove

Stevedore: Empire Stevedoring

Project Team: Irving Equipment brought together all the elements of the shore support requirements, utilizing affiliate and third party companies to meet all of the planned and emerging needs of the client.

Advanced Production and Loading (APL) Developed engineering solutions to many of the unique technical challenges which are part and parcel to this complex project.

Fabrication, ship conversion, machining and NDE services were provided by affiliate Fleetway Facility Services, and large quantities of custom rigging were manufactured by affiliate Source Atlantic.

Project Description: To provide shore support of two major offshore projects in Massachusetts Bay.

Advanced Production and Loading (APL) from Norway, were awarded two separate contracts for the supply and installation of submerged turret loading systems for the discharge of natural gas from LNG tankers in Massachusetts Bay. This work involved the staging of very large items such as 180 tonne suction anchors and 500 tonne mooring chains, the fabrication of highly specialized offshore installation equipment, modification, loadout, and support of the installation vessels as they carried out their work on the offshore field.

Specialized Equipment Used: Handling of the major items was accomplished using the Lima 300 ton Crawler crane, MKPE 350 Scheuerle multi wheeled transporters, and an assortment of hydraulic All Terrain cranes.

Outcome: Success in achieving cost and schedule goals, due partly to the support APL received from the team in Saint John.
