Project Description:
- Project involved the handling of several turbine component cargo pieces, including 3 x rotors in excess of 115 metric tonnes and 4.5 metres in diameter and a 155 tonne generator rotor which was destined for NB Power’s Nuclear Generating Station, Point Lepreau.
- Cargo arrived via vessel from Europe at the port of Saint John, discharged to the pier and stored, then subsequently loaded to a barge for transport to Point Lepreau.
- Logistec discharged 3 x rotors and generator from vessel directly to Irving Equipment specialized heavy-lift multi-axle trailers.
- Cargo was stored in Logistec’s dockside warehouse.
- Irving Equipment loaded the large components to barge for transport.
Outcome: These cargo pieces were crucial components in the refurbishment of Point Lepreau and are now on-site awaiting for refurbishment completion.
