NB Southern RailwayHeadquartered in Saint John, New Brunswick NBSR are a 364 kilometer (226 mile) short line railway that operates a modern 95,000 square foot distribution centre, and is heavily engaged in several truck/rail reload operations that include log, wood chip, lumber, wood pulp, and a variety of other dry bulk transfers. NBSR has the ability to handle over-size/over-weight shipments and have been active in several military equipment moves.

NBSR provides terminal operations in Saint John, New Brunswick with local switching services to major industrial customers including direct access to the Port of Saint John.

NBSR’s distribution centre provides indoor railcar loading and caters to customers who are not directly served by rail. NBSR and U.S. affiliate, Eastern Maine Railway (EMR), provide strategic rail connections to North America with three connecting partner railways. Including:

  • Canadian National (CN) Railway – Saint John, New Brunswick 7 days per week
  • Pan Am Rail – Mattawamkeag, Maine 5 Days per week
  • Montreal Maine & Atlantic (MMA) Railway – Brownville Junction, Maine
  • NBSR currently is a 263,000 lb rated railroad with future development to include an upgrade to a 286,000 lb rating for the CN connection by spring of 2011.
